Childrens’ ADHD Assessments Online
We know that especially for some younger children, being one to one with a stranger can be unsettling, even if they’re a doctor.
At Think It Might Be ADHD, we’ll always do our best to set your child at ease. We want to make your journey easier, and our expert team are always ready to help.
Things You Should Know
ADHD can affect how you interact with everyday life. Especially for children and teenagers, understanding what behaviours are driven by ADHD can help you to take control over the negatives and make use of the positives.
Young people with ADHD might:
- Not pay close attention to details
- Lose focus quickly
- Have difficulty waiting for ‘their turn’
- Talk excessively
- Feel restless and run or climb in inappropriate situations
- Interrupt the conversations or games of others
- Be easily distracted
If these or other symptoms make daily life harder, a diagnosis can be a huge help in getting the support needed.
Understanding ADHD
It’s estimated that between 3 and 5% of all school age children in the UK have a measurable level of ADHD. Boys are more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD, but this is partly because ADHD can present differently in girls; the gap has narrowed over time as our understanding improves.
Treatment for ADHD can be very different from individual to individual. Depending on your child’s need and circumstances, their treatment might include:
Diagnosis can Unlock Ongoing Support
Your GP can use private diagnoses to determine ongoing support. You can also combine NHS and school provisions with our own services to create a stronger support system.
If you choose to stay with our team, after your child’s assessment we can discuss follow-ups and other treatment options.
We’ll help design a plan that suits your family, making sure everyone’s comfortable and confident going forward.

FAQs
Is There Any Paperwork?
Once your booking is confirmed, you’ll receive a short pre-screening questionnaire. This is multiple choice and should take your child about five minutes to complete.
Will Your Diagnosis be Recognised by the NHS?
Yes. Our experts follow NICE guidelines. That’s the same standards used by the NHS in England and Wales. Your diagnosis and report are fully aligned with NHS clinical practice and can be used for future care.
Can I Book an ADHD and Autism Assessment Together?
Unfortunately, we only provide ADHD assessments at this time. We are not currently equipped for Autism diagnoses.
What is a Shared Care Agreement and How Does it Work?
A Shared Care Agreement (SCA) is a way for your child’s ADHD care to be shared between NHS GP and private specialist. These are established once treatment is stable and well-managed.
Why Does the School Need to Complete a Form?
In some circumstances, we can require three additional documents to gain additional perspectives on the child’s daily life and behaviour for the DIVA forms.
Children don’t always feel comfortable opening up to a stranger and can mask or minimise their difficulties. Input from the school and home environments gives us a more complete understanding.
I Homeschool My Child – How Does This Affect the Assessment?
In place of a school, we can request input from your family GP or a nominated NHS professional who knows your child and family well if further supporting documentation is required.
